On February 15, India mourned the loss of the musical icon as he passed away at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital at the age of 69. His demise left a significant void in the music industry and among his countless fans.
Recently, in an interview, Bappi Lahiri’s son, Bappa Lahiri, shared insights into his plans for the vast collection of gold jewellery and ornaments that his father cherished throughout his life.
Speaking to India Today, Bappa revealed, “For my father, those gold pieces were far more than just fashion statements; they were his lucky charms. He had a deep emotional and spiritual connection to them. From Vatican City to Hollywood, he curated a collection of unique gold pieces, each handpicked to reflect his distinctive taste.”
He further shared that the family intends to honor his legacy by preserving and possibly showcasing these cherished possessions.
“He never left home without his gold. Even for an early morning flight, he would be adorned with his signature jewellery. It was his source of strength and held a sacred meaning for him. Since these items were so special to him, we are committed to preserving them. We want people to experience a part of him, so we are considering putting them in a museum. Apart from jewellery, he had an extensive collection of shoes, sunglasses, hats, and watches, all of which he adored. Showcasing them would be a tribute to his unique persona,” Bappa concluded.
For those unfamiliar, Bappi Da’s distinctive style featured layers of gold chains, glamorous embellishments, velvety jackets, and signature sunglasses, making him a true icon in the entertainment industry.
